Problems with saunas from China
D: There are other saunas out there and there are some
cautions.
The reason I didn’t buy any other sauna and I had to design
my own and is because all of them pretty much without exception are coming in
from China. And when they’re coming in from China, they’re like anything made
in China that we’re all aware of right now is that the quality is an issue. And
particularly with toxicity.
So you get plywood even if they say there’s no plywood in
it. You get fumigation of the wood even if they say it’s not fumigated. You get
lacquers on the outside. You even get some of them made with vinyl.
Then you get chemicals on the inside covering the heat
screen. Or you even - God help us – get these carbon heated saunas that are
basically black nylon. I’ve seen them. They feel like seat belt material. And
they’re heating that stuff up inside the sauna.
So I couldn’t put my wife in there when she was sick from
chemical exposure because there’s so much chemical in there heating up and
volatilizing. I mean, let’s face it, you’re naked in the thing. You’re closing
the door and heating it up. You could turn into your own personal little gas
chamber.
So I was never trustful of these saunas coming from China. I tried to import some of them at one point and they all smelled like wet airplane
glue. It was really strong. And I’ve yet to see one since that wasn’t like
that. So we just wouldn’t go there. We didn’t want to subject our customers to
that.
Contaminated and dangerous saunas
Now these saunas are coming from China for $300. They’re
being marked up to anywhere from $1000 to $2500. We haven’t gone that way. We
haven’t tried to compete with them because we know, for a fact, they’re going
to fall apart or they’re going to be poisonously toxic. The U.S. Consumer
Protection Commission now has a warning site on their website. Hundreds of
these things are being recalled for burning down in people’s homes in the United States.
Now this is just like the toxic drywall that’s poisoning
homes for a million people. About four hundred thousand homes in the United States are poisoned with sulfuric acid right now because of the toxic drywall from China. Or the Barbie Dolls that had so much lead on them they were poisonous for children.
Or the dog food that killed all those dogs all across North America. And then
there was the baby formula scare. I don’t know if that was in the United States. We had that here in Canada.
I heard that one of the chocolate bar companies had to
recall a bunch of the chocolate because of the same company that poisoned the
baby formula with melamine actually had supplied it with its raw milk product.
So the list just goes on and on and on. And we keep getting a new example every
second month about how stuff coming out of China is toxic for us.
