D:
There's lot of stuff to psoriasis than just the physical.
Oh
yeah, yeah. That's why I was so mad when I realized I was going to change my
diet because it is profound. It goes far beyond just what you see. If ten
percent of people at any one point are suicidal they're just not struggling,
they're losing their will to keep going.
D:
Was there anything else that surprised you as you learned more about psoriasis?
The
thing that surprised was that the principles didn't apply [only] to psoriasis.
I saw them applying for diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, ultra
colitis, Crone's disease. Now I work ever single week with the Center for
Children where we work with children on the autistic spectrum. I saw it working
with migraines. I saw it working with allergies. I saw it working with asthma.
I saw it working with depression. I saw the way people could lose weight
without focusing on their weight.
The
way these principles apply to chronic disease surprised me and the fact that I
had never been taught any of that in my institutional training was shocking.
That's why I went back into nutrition. That's why I felt ethically obligated to
go back into nutrition. I never blamed any of my dermatologists or doctors for
the fact they never told me about diet because that was my profession. And I
had never been taught about diet. And it wasn't just my profession for awhile.
I had been in it for two decades.
